Partner Tom Giordano, Jr. and Associate Kajal Alemo have been elected to the Social Security Disability Law (SSD) Section of the American Association for Justice (AAJ) during the annual convention due to their outstanding work in Social Security Disability law. Tom is now Chair of the SSD Law Section of the AAJ and Kajal proudly takes the title of Newsletter Editor. They were both recognized at the Social Security Section’s annual business meeting during the AAJ convention in Denver, Colorado on July 8th.
Tom expresses his appreciation and excitement for being named Chair of the SSD Section of the AAJ after previously being named Co-Chair at last year’s convention.
“It is an honor to chair the AAJ’s Social Security Disability Law Section this year. My goal has always been to grow the membership of this committee and educate every attorney who practices Social Security Disability law about the importance of the AAJ,” says Partner Tom Giordano, Jr.
Kajal shares what she envisions to do during her time as Newsletter Editor for the SSD Section.
“Since joining AAJ, it’s been my vision to serve on this board and shine light on the relevancy of Social Security Disability to other practice areas. As Newsletter Editor for AAJ’s SSD Section, I intend to illustrate some of these existing parallels and emphasize why this federal program is worth all plaintiffs’ attorneys politically investing in,” says Disability Justice Associate Kajal Alemo. “I am incredibly hopeful that this cross-pollination will ultimately contribute to the ongoing and inspiring growth of our section.”
The AAJ is the world’s largest trial lawyers association. Its members focus on advocating for the civil justice system, enhancing the practice of law by promoting collaboration between its members, and seeking justice for clients. Its mission aligns with what Tom advocates for at Disability Justice.
“Now more than ever, we need an organization who has the experience and willingness to fight for what is right and just. The Social Security Disability system is under attack. Rhetoric, misinformation, and partisan politics are quickly eroding the rights of millions of disabled Americans who have paid into the system. Social Security Attorneys not only should support the AAJ but utilize its vast resources and political experience to continue to fight for a fair and effective justice system,” says Tom.
“Our clients need us to fight for what is right. AAJ can help us do just that.”
