On June 17th, 2017, Disability Pride Philadelphia held its Sixth Annual parade. Opening ceremonies were held at the National Constitution Center and then proceeded to City Hall. Hundreds of people marched together to show their support and ensure that the right of all people with disabilities to thrive in our communities remains secure against prejudice.
Disability Justice was proud to sponsor the parade and help Disability Pride Philadelphia continue to promote awareness of and a positive attitude towards disabling conditions for years to come.
The purpose of Disability Pride Week is to change the way people think about and define the word “disability” through dismantling internalized shame among people with disabilities and promoting love and kindness for human diversity.
